Al Ain Aerobatic Show 2009

We drove up from Abu Dhabi to Al Ain for the annual Aerobatic Show on Friday. The Aerobatic Show is held at Al Ain International Airport from January 28th-31st.

There were also display tents set up showcasing aircrafts, flight school, there were women doing henna designs, Etihad Simulation zone, Mercedes GLK display, Mini go-kart, childrens play area, inflatable play area, Paint-ball experimenting area and etc.

The Al Ain Aerobatics show consisted of teams of small aircrafts doing incredible aerobatic displays, they did loops, flew mere inches by each other very close the ground. We were all in awe and applauding these dangerous maneuvers. It was really great.

Visit Al Ain with my parents

Bring my parents to Al Ain on 26 Dec
and planned to visit the Green Mubazzarah,
Jabel Hafeet, Al Ain Palace Museum & Al Ain Oasis

We started our journey at 10.30am
and reached the beautiful park,
Green Mubazarrah at 12 noon.

Had our lunch there and our kids had
lots of fun playing at the park too

After that we drove up to Jabel Hafeet
a limestone mountain just south of Al Ain
The winding drive up the mountain gives
beautiful views of both Oman and the UAE

There is a park at the foot of the mountain, as well as a large viewing point and “Restaurant and Cafeteria” at the top of the mountain.

Near the peak of Jabel Hafeet is the Mercure Grand Hotel. From what we saw driving by and reviews we have read, this looks like a great place to stay…a possibility for an interesting overnight when guests come in. It’s exhausting thinking of the work that went into constructing the three lane road up the mountain, as well as this hotel with swimming pools, tennis courts, etc.

Al Ain Palace Museum

The wonderful Al Ain Palace Museum was the former birthplace and private residence of Sheikh Zayed, the late president who brought the UAE into modernity (1971-2004). A majestic fort, the Palace lies in the center of town at the edge of the Al Ain Oasis. It is a beautiful place to take a quiet walk and explore the verdant gardens, courtyards, long corridors, paintings and photographs of former leaders and historic Al Ain, gorgeous carved wood windows, and many rooms decorated historically.

It's also a very romantic place to wander and take in the arabesque architecture, although of course we had 2 kids who enjoyed running around the grounds! This was my second visit to this palace and I was excited to re-visit this place again for its captures a certain sense of the history and beauty of this place.

There was one of the many rooms called a "Majlis" or meeting room--full of comfortable seating and beautiful carpets. Of course we had to stop and rest a moment. These rooms were also fitted with modern air-conditioning which was another reason to pause.

Al Ain Oasis

We visited the Al Ain Oasis in the evening around 4pm. The Al Ain Oasis is one of the seven oases in Al Ain and is located in the heart of the city. It is a large wonderful place to wander through – under a canopy of date palms as far as the eye can see, through labyrinth paths and falaj systems, an ancient irrigation system used dating back thousands of years, bringing water that comes from nearby mountains. The oasis is also infamous for staying cooler in the hot weather.

It's nice that you can be in this expansive place and feel like it's empty, and beyond birds singing, very quiet. It's a wonderful place to just go for a walk. And our kids loves exploring the old doors, trees, dates, stones, and different surroundings.... The oasis is divided into sections and owned by various departments, sheikhs, and other nationals.

Al Ain - Jabel Hafeet

Location: on the South East of AL-Ain city centre

Jebel Hafeet is a mountain primarily in the United Arab Emirates on the outskirts of Al Ain. The mountain actually straddles part of the border with Oman. The mountain rises 1240 meters and offers an impressive view over the city, with what has been described as "the greatest driving road in the world" extending to the summit.

Jabel Hafeet was a well-known landmark through out the area's history and is a contemporary tourist attraction. An extensive natural cave system winds through Jebel Hafeet. HAFIT mountain is the highest point in the country , offering a panoramic view of the Empty Quarter. It is popular tourist rendezvous and the peak is reached along and excellent mountain road where a hotel is being built , On the way to the top and at the top there are so many car parking, Places and areas where you can sit with your family and enjoy your time in special way!!

At the foothills of Jabal Hafeet lies the Green Mubazarrah, a well developed tourist attraction. At the Green Mubazarrah, hot-water springs gush forth in little streams and form a lake. Swimming pools and jacuzzis are scattered all over the Green Mubazarrah. Jebel Hafeet is also home to a wide range of animals including bats, foxes, snakes, etc
