Red Bull Air Race

We went to watch the Red Bull Air Race 2008 on Friday (11/4)at Mina Zayed, Abu Dhabi. It was the first time we were attending the Red Bull Air Race and we had lots of fun and we enjoy the race in a very nice and hot weather.

The Red Bull Air Race World Series feature the world's best pilots. Using the fastest, most agile and lightweight racing planes, pilots navigate a low-level aerial race track made up of air-filled pylons, flying at speeds reaching 400 km/h while withstanding forces of up to 10 g.

Pilots must pass between the Air Gates in the correct position taking care not to touch them with their wings. Spectacular backdrops and jow-dropping action is one of the most innovative and exciting new sports competitions we will be watching today.

The objective for this race is to complete the course, navigating the 20-meter high specially designed inflatable pylons known as 'Air Gates' in the fastest possible time. They have to be precision-perfect because any mistakes incur three-second penalty which are then added to the pilot's time. The pilots compete for points at each race and the one who accumulates the most at the end of the season is crowned Red Bull Air Race World Champion.

Here am I! Sitting at a park nearby enjoying our lunch before the race start.

Using underpass to go to the other side to watch the show.

This is the place!

Beautiful under the sun!

The race suppose to start at 12pm
but they have postponed it to 2pm without any notice.

We have to wait for 2 hours there before the race start

YT having fun playing with ants.

At 2.30pm the race started with parachuting.

This helicopter hovered over the crowd for a while to take photos.

Everyone stand under the hot sun to watch the race.

I have to stand under the hot sun to take these photos too.
But it was fun for me & I love sun & beach.....:)

It was too hot & we didn't want to watch the race until finish
We just take the underpass again and walk to our car.
Wow...we have been standing under the hot sun for almost 2 hours.
and we have a bit of sunburn...hahahaha...

Air Race....fun...sunburn

Sharjah Trip: Al Hsin Fort

One of the Fort Museum we have visited during our trip to Sharjah 2 weeks ago.

This Fort built in 1820 and formely home to the ruling in Sharjah for about 200 years and also the headquaters of the government, this is a superb fort to stroll around to appreciate Sharjah's history throught traditional architecture and artefacts.

The fort has a terrace and three towers - Al Muhalwasa, Al Kabs and Murabaa Mishriff, which are joined by rooms and halls, surrounding a large central courtyard. Enter through the original fort doors into a world of local history and charm.

The fort played an important role in the development of the Emirate's social, commercial, political and military activities.
