Getting to Anuradhapura from Negombo was a fairly long undertaking. The trip from Negombo to Annuradhapura took 4 hours of driving time.
Today was a place and people watching day, so here are my observations:
- Sri Lanka is clean country.
- No garbage or burning of garbage smells so far
- Roads are well paved and have painted lines. Some buses take advantage of this and speed along them, while others go at a tortoise pace and stop anywhere and everywhere to pick up and drop off.
- Some women wear saris, some (few) wear niqabs. Some wear shirts and skirts. Acceptable skirt length outside of cities is from just above the knees down, with an average length of just below the knees.
- Men wear lungis (sarongs) or pants. Mustaches are not in fashion.
