Hi Via: Sorry...i'm accidently deleted your comment.
According to the book: The mountain areas are still extremely tribal, even retaining the old custom of requesting permission to pass through another tribe's territory in places. Ancient tribes include the Hamous, Bani Shimaili and the Shihu. On this particular route it is the shihu sho have constructed an intricate trail up a vertical rock face. Some of the stairways are masterpieces of stonework, but the xposure is terrific. It's hard to comprehend that this used to be the normal way up to the village on the plateau from the valley.
The hike mainly follows the old Shihu trail up to an inhabited village at around 1100m, then up to the summmit at around 1930m. Part of this trail, which is still occasionally used by people living the the village, heads up a 200m roack wall. This wall involves some rock climbing and considerable exposure-definately not for the faint-hearted.
Kikey: I love the sea view too.
Fufu: yes..they all look alike.
Renaye: Thanks
