Travel to Hainan Province (23/08 - 28/08)

Date: 23 Aug 2008

Hainan is the second largest ocean island and the smallest land province in China. Although scenery in Hainan lacks the grandness of the Great Wall and the mystery of the Terror-Cotta Warriors, its natural beauty has gained a good reputation among the visitors and has been widely known around the world. People call it "the Oriental Hawaii".

The capital of Hainan is Haikou City. Located in northern part of the island, it is the political, economic, cultural and transportation center of the whole province. In Hainan, the cities Haikou and Sanya are where most tourists congregate.

Our flight to Hainan is 12.45pm
from Singapore Changi Airport
and it will take 3hr 15m to reach Haikou
we are travelling to Hainan Province with our family
the main reason for this trip is to visit
our relatives at Haikou & Qionghai
and we also take this oppotunity
to do some sight seeing & try the local foods

Can you see the dark cloud in the photo
It's raining when our flight going to take off
so our flight delay for 30min due to the bad weather

Photo taken while we almost reach Hainan Meilan Airport

Finally we landed at Haikou at 4.30pm local time
our relatives already waiting for us at the arrival hall
They are very excited and happy to see us

~Haikou City~
known also as the 'Coconut City',
Haikou stands at the northern end fo Hainan Island,
on the west bank of the Nandu River estuary.
This river is the longest on the island
and the city's name appropriately means 'Mouth of the Sea'.

We feel a bit tired after the 3 hours flight
so we go back to thier house to rest for a while
and chat since we never meet them before
except my FIL and MIL met them 10 years ago
The distance from airport to Haikou city is about 30min drive

In the evening we have dinner at thier place too
Look at the amount of dishes they prepare for 8 of us
Haikou is famous with its seafood, Wenchang Chicken,
Dongshan Mutton, Jiaji Duck and Hele Crab.
we try almost everything that serve on the table
J & I love the chicken so much
the chicken is so tender and delicious

After dinner we check in to our hotel
we are going to stay here for 2 nights
before we continue our journey to Sanya

After shower we walk to the hotel lobby
and we look for the salon that have body & foot massage
J got his body & foot massage
I got my hair wash & foot massage
it is very cheap after convert to M'sia Riggit
We have a good sleep that night after the massage :)
