Part3 Explore Khasab
Part4 The Castle of Khasab

Date: 28 Mar 2009

On our way back to Abu Dhabi
we visited Bukha Fort and Al Qala'a Fort at Bukha village

A nice cove, about 10 miles south of Khasab,
just off the road leading down the west coast of Musandam,
eventually leading to Dubai and Abu Dhabi

Bukha is a wilayat and town
in the Musandam governorate of Oman

The photo is taken from the hillside old fort
overlooking the seaside fort and the town.
Bukha Fort
It was built by the Portuguese when they occupied
the region in the 16th and 17th centuries.
For many years it guarded the town and
its harbour against attack from the sea.
This is the start of the picturesque mountains
that form the fjords in Oman.
