Off Road Buraimi-Hatta: Khatwa

Part1: Buraimi Fort & Souk
Part2: Hanging Garden
Part3: Camping
Part4: Mahdah

Date: 18 Apr 2009

After Mahdah, we drove southeasterly direction and look for a link road to Khatwa (Khatwa is a village about 45 minutes away from the Al Ain-Oman border) on the left. This runs northeastwards towards the mountains for 5km.

On the way, we see the new village of Khatwa till we reach the top of the steep pass, and we saw a superb panoramic view of the oasis and the village.

Panoramic view of Khatwa
moutains all around, and like a volcano,
inside a lush green oasis
We leave our vehicle outside the
oasis plantation and proceed further on foot.

Date palm tree plantation
Falaj system carrying clear running water
It is a beautiful walk and we work our way through
the palm plantations and fruits gardens towards the wadi,
pause to look at the ruined mud and stone houses

A leafless tree
lush green vegetation

walk carefully as not to knock any vegetation
Gorge
We also walk down the plantation towards a deep,
narrow gorge and crossing the gorge by a concrete
footbridge to take a closer look at the gorge and
we can see village of Khabbayn on the other side
