7D6N Jordan: Madaba Mosaic Map (Day 4)

St Georges Church, a Greek Orthodox Church
This church as well as Madaba is well know because of
the Mosaic Map on it's floor, depicting the map of Holy land
and the surrounding area. Created around 6th century,
the map is the oldest floor map survived.

The Church is known for its mosaic map, which you can see roped off
The interior of the church was very colorful with pictures
and mosaic-like picture all over the walls
Some decorative paintings inside the church
Inside, it's quite simple:
square room with the altar at the end of the room.
